For decades we have been moving to a world where work is all and time for anything else is short. The good-soldier baby boomers have pioneered great new traditions like staying till 9:00 at night and working through the weekend too. But changing demographics, attitudes and economics are set to change the work world and business in general: the leisure economy is coming. Learn what changes are afoot and how to style your career and your business to stay ahead of the curve.

You will learn:

  • Why there is a major shift happening and why demographics is only part of the story
  • What this means for your workplace, whether you are a manager or a worker
  • How to re-structure your business to take advantage of the leisure economy
  • What businesses the leisure economy will create and which ones it will destroy
  • What the leisure economy means for the U.S. economy

Teleseminar Presenter

Linda NazarethLinda Nazareth is an economist, author and television broadcaster. An expert on demographic and social change, she knows that small trends can cause big shifts and she know how to stay ahead of them. Linda's book The Leisure Economy (John Wiley & Sons, 2007) details what will be a sea change for the North American economy. For the past three decades, we have been steadily creating an extreme 'time-crunch economy'. But the 'time-crunch economy' is turning into the 'leisure economy' and everyone, including consumers, investors, businesses, and policy-makers will need to understand the changes afoot.

Since 1999, Linda has been the in-house economist for Business News Network (BNN), Canada's only all-business television. She also writes widely on the economy and business, and as a commentator has been quoted by the likes of The Wall Street Journal to Wired magazine. Prior to joining BNN, Linda was a Senior Economist with CIBC and earlier in her career she was an economist with the federal government where she specialized in demographic and labor market forecasting.

Linda is a frequent speaker to business groups, translating economic forecasts into information that can be used for planning purposes.
